             Indian Independence Day 2019 History, Celebration, Wishes, Quotes: Indian republic was called independent for the first time on the day 15th August 1947. The Britishers ruled over the country for around 200 years. Since that day Indian celebrate as Independence Day on 15th August every year in order to commemorate the independence and struggle of freedom fighters to make India an independent country.

Importance of the Indian Independence Day

Independence Day In India is an emotion for each & every Indian people. It is the day of rebirth of the Indian Country. At the midnight of 15th August, 1947 Britishers handed over the country back to its leaders which put an end to the struggle of all the freedom fighters that actually lasted for years. It was, on this day that on which sovereign India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru unfolded the tricolor flag of the country for the first time on the glorious Red Fort of Delhi.

History of the Indian Independence Day

In the year 1757, when Britishers won the Battle of Plassey and East India Company started its rule over India. In the year 1858, the British Crown took over the control of the country from the East India Company. The situations after World War 1 was marked with exploitative and suppressive laws by the Britishers.

This was the time which led to the rise in the spirit of independence. India began to protest against violence which was done by the Britishers in the country.  There were movements which were started against the Britishers like civil disobedience movement and also noncooperation movement.

The enduring leaders of all such movements were Mahatma Gandhi who followed the path of nonviolence. Many movements and acts were conducted by the Indian National Congress, freedom fighters and people of India.

Finally in the month of June in 1947 the prominent leaders that participated in all of such movements were Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Mohd. Ali Jinnah, Master Tara Singh, Abul Kalam Azad, and B.R. Ambedkar agreed to the partition of India along the religious outline. Though India was partitioned into two countries India and Pakistan but still the nation with the strong center is far better than the nation with a week center.

Celebration on Indian Independence Day

This celebration is done every year on 15th of august which signifies the independence of India from the Britishers after 200 years of slavery. This day is observed as a national holiday in the whole country. Though these local government offices organize flag hoisting at their place. The venue of the main celebration is done in the Red Fort by hoisting the flag by the Prime Minister of the country.

People symbolizes their patriotism by making the use of national flags etc. They wear clothes based on the theme of the tricolor flag. Almost every school, college, and other private colleges hoist the national flag. They organize different kinds of events to celebrate the day. The Prime Minister also pays a tribute to all those freedom fighters who gave their lives for the independence of the country.

On 15th August 1947, Nehru hoisted the tricolor flag in Red Fort. Likewise, every year the Prime Minister of the country hoists the national flag and he will address the country through his words and speech.
