Canada Day is soon to arrive and it will be celebrating on 1 July 2019 on Monday. If you are confused that on dressing up there is no place to go. Then this is only for you. On the day, street parking and most city parkades are free with Sunday levels of the public transit. There are lot many events to enjoy from the street festivals to fireworks. There are also events for Calgarians who look to celebrate Canada Day this weekend.
Canada Day 2019 Events And Celebrations
Fort Calgary
It includes all family related activities all inside and the outside. Timings are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The venue is 750 Ninth Avenue S.E.
Prince’s Island Park
Timings are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The venue is 27 Prince’s Island Path S.W.Family-friendly fun includes carnival games, mascots, storytelling and arts, and crafts — part of the Franco-Albertan Celebration. There is also telling of the story which begins at 1 p.m.
East Village
Here will be the street vendors, live music and the cultural festival. The timings here are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The place is 630 Eighth Avenue S.E. The East Village Bounce Game Parks will also have games, basketball, and arts.
Eau Claire Market
The visit to an artisan market, food trucks, music, and dance performances and crafts. The timings are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The place is 200 Barclay Parade S.W.
Studio Bell National Music Centre
It will last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The place is 850 Fourth Street S.E. Admission is free in the center where there are exhibitions, you can sing along, watch piano performances and barn dance.
Chinese Cultural Centre
It is putting on multicultural performances and family-friendly activities. It will go on from11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 197 First Street S.W.
Central Memorial Park
The show is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The place is 1221 Second Street S.W. here you have to bring in your picnic basket and instruments to play in the Canada Day Strum n String 2.0 event.
Military Showcase
Here you can meet the Canadian Armed Forces members on the Tim Hortons Trail. Military displays the educational activities which will also be available.
New Central Library
Here Calgarians are welcomed to take part in storytimes indigenous crafts and also a road hockey game in the library. There will also be a film festival and music performances as well as the tours around the new library. It will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The place is 802 Third Street S.E.
Canada Day Block Party
This can be an option to hang out at a massive, accessive block party which is featuring 100 vendors and two live music stages at the Max Bell Centre. Timing from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m at 1001 Barlow Trail S.E.
Canada Day Salsabor
Here you can dance to the Salsa and Latin tunes at the Municipal Building Plaza. There is no requirement of dance partner here.
Tim Hortons Canada Day Stage
Steven Page is headlining the event. Calgary-based Ghostkeeper, Franco-Albertan band PostScript and Edmonton folk rock band Captain Tractor will also grace the stage before the fireworks.
Opened Places On Monday
The East Calgary is the only landfill that is opened on Sunday and rest is closed. But on Monday,
Public outdoor pools, spray parks, and wading pools will open.
All city golf courses and driving ranges.
Southland Leisure Centre will remain open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed Places on Monday
All City of Calgary buildings, including City Hall, will be closed.
All aquatic, recreation and fitness centers, except for Southland Leisure Centre will not open.
All areas and athletic parks are closed, except for advanced bookings only.
