The Mobile World Congress 2019 which was held in Barcelona last month, saw some really cool devices by big brands. Samsung Galaxy fold and Huawei Mate X work probably the two most famous devices at the MWC. Both foldable smartphones seem to be amazing and promising. The Huawei Mate X is the best foldable device that we know as of now. It was able to beat the Samsung Galaxy Fold on the paper. 2019 seems to be all about 5G and foldable Smartphones. The latest addition to the foldable smartphones is Motorola Razer.
Motorola had officially confirmed that they are working on a foldable smartphone. However, the brand name and the smartphone name was not actually revealed by the company during this announcement. We strongly expect that Motorola is going to revive its Motorola razor brand and introduce a foldable smartphone under this brand name itself. One simply cannot forget the Motorola Razer devices which were launched a decade ago. These were the best selling smartphones and had a foldable format. However, the screen of this device was not foldable.
The Motorola razor brand started disappearing with the launch of new technologies like Android and IOS. People started purchasing Android devices in place of the Motorola razor devices. The brand name has now completely lost its value. However, it seems that Motorola is going to revive this popular brand name with a foldable screen Smartphone.
Motorola Razer
The Wall Street Journal reported that Motorola has filed a patent which seems to be a modification of the old Motorola Razer. The patent suggests that the design of the device will remain similar to the decade old one. However, this time the foldable hinge and keyboard will be replaced by a screen. Hence, the device is going to make a massive come back and will compete with other foldable smartphones like Samsung Galaxy fold and Huawei mate X.
Specifications
It is Rumored that the new Motorola razor will be having a 6.5 inches screen when the device is unfolded. Moreover, the device is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 710 processor and 6gb Ram along with 128 GB of storage space. Hence, the processor is somewhat weaker compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor found on the Samsung Galaxy fold. However, the actual processor and its performance will be revealed only after the device is launched.
It is expected that the smartphone will be powered by stock Android operating system. This is mainly because of the fact that Motorola mostly used the stock Android OS only. Hence, all the latest Android updates will be receivable by the smartphone for 2 years. Additionally, it is believed that it will be having the latest version of Google assistant.
Motorola Razer: Expected Price and Release Date
The launch date of this device has not been announced yet officially. However, we expected it to arrive as early as May 2019. This is because Motorola announced that the device will be rolling out in summer this year. Moreover, the price is expected to be around $1500. Hence, the price is roughly similar to the other foldable smartphones.
