ICC World Cup 2019: India vs West Indies In Manchester, Both Teams Eyeing For Win

After a close match against Afghanistan, India is all set to give a great competition to the West Indies. Team India performances in the past few years have been remarkable and under Virat Kohli’s leadership, the team India will enter as the favorite team in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Also, after New Zealand defeat against Pakistan, Team India turns out to be the only team in ICC World Cup 2019 who have not lost any match yet in this year tournament. In order to maintain their position and record, India has to give a really great competition to the West Indies.

India has won the world cup for two times that is in the year 1983 and in 2011 edition. India was also the runner up in 2003 edition against Australia.  In this edition of World Cup, team India played its opening match on 5 June 2019 against South Africa at Rose Bowl, Southampton, where India won by 6 wickets. South Africa scored 227/9 in 50 overs, on the other hand, India scored 230/4 in 47.3 overs. India vs Australia was the second match of team India in ICC World Cup 2019 where India won by 36 runs. The third match of team India was against New Zealand which was abandoned due to heavy rain. Their fourth match was against Pakistan where India won by 89 runs (DLS method). Their last match was against Afghanistan where India won by 11 runs.

On the other hand, talking about West Indies, the opening match of the team was held on 31 May 2019 against Pakistan, where Windies made a remarkable winning by 7 wickets at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The second match of West Indies was held on 6 June 2019 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham against Australia, where Australia won by 15 runs. Bangladesh won by 7 wickets in their fifth match and in their last match, New Zealand won by 5 runs.

The champions of the first two World Cups that is in the year 1975 and 1979, the West Indies seem to be off-beat as they entered the competition as one of the strongest teams but now one can clearly see and say that their performance in past matches was not up to the mark. They really have to work hard and have to win all the remaining matches if they want to move on to next stage of the tournament.

Whereas, with a total of nine points from five games, India are securely positioned in the top four as well as the team just need two wins out of the remaining four games in order to book their place in the semi-finals.

India is in the win-win situation but still can’t afford any distraction or defeat, on the other hand, West Indies really need to shine out after giving an average performance in past matches. By these their current status we can definitely say that today is going to be an interesting match between India and West Indies.
