It was a close and thrilling match between Houston Dynamo and Club America which made the fans stick to their seats throughout its running. After giving a tough fight to Club America, Dynamo couldn’t make up to the semi-finals.
2019 Leagues Cup which started on July 23, 2019, with the first set of quarterfinals, has finally made its way to the semi-finale.
Both the teams end up at penalty round as both scored the same goals 1-1 as the time was up. Goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin also made the three saves on the night but the 13th shot of the penalty kick shootout when Houston rookie Sam Junqua’s shot floated over the crossbar, successfully giving Club America the 6-5 win on penalty round in a 1-1 draw.
Leaving the Dynamo at BBVA Stadium on Wednesday defeated Club America advance to the semi-finals of the Leagues Cup.
From the begging only, Marchesin made a lead by blocking Romell Qiuoto’s opening shot of the shootout. But when it seems like that this Mexican club is close to winning, teammate Roger Martinez booted a shot that sailed over the bar and missed it.
After that shot, it was 50-50 chance for both the teams to win the match and it became more thrilling from then onwards.
The Mexican club had grabbed the control of the match after a defensive failure in the 73rd minute.
After that missed shot both the teams achieved the next goals that are from Garcia and Benedetti from Dynamo and Club America, respectively. Now, everything was dependent on the next goal and with Junqua missing the Penalty, gave a golden chance to Club America to grab this opportunity. Santos came from the Club America side to play the last and winner deciding Penalty. With a perfect goal, Club America won the match and lead their way to semi-finals.

Now, in the meantime, Club America is all set to play-off with UANL on 20th August 2019. UANL also made their way to semi-finals after defeating Real Salt Lake 0-1, on July 24 at Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy. The venue for their semi-final round is not revealed and is yet to be announced, but you can expect it soon to be revealed by the officials.
On 20th August 2019, another semi-final round is also going to take place between LA Galaxy and Cruz Azul. The match is going to take place at Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson.
The winners from these two semi-finals matches are going to be headed towards the finals of 2019 Leagues Cup. The final match for this tournament is scheduled to be held at Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas on September 18, 2019.
