The Grand Slam tennis tournament has finally reached to its final round leading defending champion Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer to the finale as it was earlier predicted.
The semi-finals marked the first meeting at Wimbledon in the middle of Federer and Rafael Nadal since the year 2008 final, a match which is considered to be the greatest match in tennis history.
Novak Djokovic, who is already four-time Wimbledon champion faced Roberto Bautisa Agut and won in Friday’s other semi-final, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
2019 Wimbledon championship is taking place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom and is going to conclude on July 14.
Federer won the 2019 semi-final match against Rafael Nadal on Friday, 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, concluding it off on his fifth match point by playing bold from the start.
“We know that every time there are fewer chances to play against each other in these high qualities, highly important matches,” Nadal said.
Federer said, “It lived up to the hype,” who is going to face Novak Djokovic, the defending champion, in Sunday’s final.
Earlier, eight-time champion, Roger Federer, also said before semi-final match, “We have a lot of information on Rafa, as does he on us,”
He also said, “So you can dive into the tactics like mad for two days, or you say ‘it’s grass court tennis so I’m going to come out and play my tennis’.
He further added his statement by saying, “People always hype it up. It was a joy to play against Rafa on his court at the French Open and [I’m] very excited to play him here.”
Nadal said of Federer, “He is always able to do the most difficult things easy. He’s able to move inside the court quicker than anyone. He puts pressure on the opponent all the time because he has the ability to take the ball earlier than anybody else.”
Federer really deserved his win as from the start only, he played remarkably and didn’t give any chance to Nadal to steal his win.
Earlier Federer made his way to semi-finals by defeating Kei Nishikori 4-6 6-1 6-4 6-4 at the All England Club for his 100th match win, while Nadal, on the other hand, defeated Sam Querrey by 7-5 6-2 6-2 to move on to semi-finals.
Federer said after the 16th win of their rivalry, “Always cool to play Rafa here, especially after so long. It had everything. I’m glad the match is over. He’s serving bigger, so we have fewer rallies. He’s got such easy power, to kill any point. Everyone has less time on the ball these days. That’s been the big difference from 11 years ago.”
He added, “It gave me a huge boost for the final. It will be down to who’s got more energy. There are no draws in our sport. It’s brutal at times. Age kicks in. I know it’s not over yet. One more.”
The finale of 2019 Wimbledon Championship is going to held on Sunday, July 14 between the strongest and best players of tennis. It will be interesting to watch who is going to take the title t their homeland.
