Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral had a great opening to a stellar 9.2 million at Friday box office. It is enough to bury the competition. This puts the film in the competition with holdover How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World for weekend crown.
Both movies have their expectations as to earn $25 million to $26 million. If performing remarkably it earned more than that then it would be Perry’s fourth-best opening. This is because he and Lionsgate bid farewell to the popular Madea franchise, as well as their over film deal.
