The 2019 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship is going to be the 26th event of the World Men’s Handball Championship. International Handball Federation is going to host the tournament. This championship will be held in Denmark and Germany from 10 January 2019 to 27 January 2019. It will be the first time where there will be more than one host hosting the championship tournament.
The Dansk Handbold Forbund (DHF) and the Deutscher Handball Bund (DHB) will combinely organize the Men’s World Handball Championship 2019. The preliminary match of the Handball Championship 2019 will take place at Mercedes-Benz Arena at Berlin. The German national team will play the round. After qualifying the preliminary round, Germany will move to Cologne for the next round.

“The tournament is going to set a high standard for our sport and our host nations are eager to show numerous innovational ideas. Both countries are experienced in organizing major events and are prepared for every challenge that comes with it. I’m sure that fans around the globe are going to relive the fascination for our sport due to the world cup. The clear structure of the competition and the possibility to simplify the entire structure of the event is going to assure a smooth procedure at the venues. Not only the teams will benefit from this format, but also the media, the fans and the local organizers,” said Dr. Hassan Moustafa (President of the International Handball Federation).
This event will be played in a different setup. First, the groups will have preliminary rounds which will eliminate 12 teams. The rest 12 teams will forward to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, 12 teams will be divided into two groups. After the quarterfinals, 4 successful teams will forth towards the semi-finals. The final will be held in Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark.
