FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Dates, Hosts, Teams, Groups, Full Schedule: The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup is around the corner and is soon going to kick-off on August 31. This tournament is going to be the 18th tournament of the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men’s national basketball teams.
The group stage of the competition has expanded from 24 to 32 teams and will be hosted in China. Earlier, the tournament was scheduled for the year 2018 but then it was rescheduled to 2019, turning out to be the first since the year 1967 that will not occur in the same year as the FIFA World Cup.
This tournament will mark the debut of Czech Republic in the FIBA World Cup, while on the other hand making Poland to return to the FIBA Basketball World Cup for the first time since the year 1967. Also, as an independent nation, Montenegro is going to make its first appearance which was earlier being part of Serbia and Montenegro until 2006.
Not only this, but the is very remarkable as it will act as the qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics, which is going to take the top two teams from each of the Americas and Europe, as well as the top team from each of Africa, Asia and Oceania, together with hosts Japan.
2019 FIBA Basketball World Dates
The 2019 FIBA Basketball World is going to start from this month only that is from August 31 in China and will carry on till 15th September 2019.
2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Host
The entire bidding procedure happened in April 2014 where the bids from many countries were submitted. Then finally on16 March 2015, it was confirmed that the World Cup is going to be staged in Asia, with China as well as the Philippines as the final nations to be the beginning for the selection of the host. After which, it was declared that China won the bid against the Philippines on 7 August 2015, and is now going to host the upcoming World Cup.
