The War of the Worlds Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Production: The War of the Worlds is basically a three-part drama which is produced by Mammoth Screen for the BBC as well as coproduced with Creasun Media, in association with Red Square. This new edition of H.G. Wells’ influential tale — one of the first alien attack stories in literature — follows George (Rafe Spall) as well as his partner Amy (Eleanor Tomlinson) as they try their efforts to challenge society and begin a life together, fronting the mounting terror of an alien attack, while fighting for their lives in contradiction of an enemy further than their intellectual capacity.
The filming of the show was first started in Liverpool in April 2018. The show is projected to be released in the year 2019.
Director Craig Viveiros said, “HG Wells’ seminal novel has been adapted for the screen many times, but it’s always had a contemporary (and American) setting.” The statement further added, “This is the first version to be set in London and [its environs] during the Edwardian period.”
On the other hand, George and Amy – Spall and Tomlinson’s characters – are a new addition.
Also, writer Peter Harness added, “The version of The War of the Worlds that I wanted to make is one that’s faithful to the tone and the spirit of the book, but which also feels contemporary, surprising and full of shocks: a collision of sci-fi, period drama, and horror.”
