St. Patrick Day is celebrated on the 17th of March every year. This day is celebrated to remember St. Patrick. It is a traditional and cultural celebration on the behalf of the death date of Saint Patrick (AD 285-461)’ the foremost patron saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early 17th century.
This day recalls Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland so people on this day celebrates cultures and tradition of the Irish. The celebration includes Parades, rallies in which different talents present them and show their creativity and skills. On this day people generally wear green clothes, green attire or shamrocks.
Parties featuring Irish food and drinks that are dyed in green food color are part of this celebration. It is a custom to drink Irish whiskey, beer and, Cider on this day to give a toast to Saint Patrick. They put a shamrock on the bottom of the glass and then fill the glass with Whiskey, Beer or Cider. Shamrock is the leaf of the clover plant and a symbol of the holy trinity. Religious symbols include snakes and serpents, as well as the Celtic cross( on Christian cross with the sun, a powerful Irish symbol)
It is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland Northern Ireland, the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador(for government employees), and the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat. People on this day come out on the streets to celebrate the Saint Patrick day. There are different activities to watch on street shows like musical bands, street theatres, and pageant companies prepare for the event with their artistic interpretation. People will perform and light up the streets of Ireland with their beautiful performances.
